The Halong Bay was designated as one of the World Heritage Site in 1994. This mystical bay is a vision of ethereal beauty and has been northern Vietnam’s center of tourism. Halong means “Where the Dragon Descends into the Sea”. According to legend, this mystical seascape was created when a great mountain dragon plunged into the sea and with that, the area was filled with water leaving only the pinnacles. The most popular way to experience this magnificent bay is by taking an overnight cruise.
WAR REMNANTS MUSEUM
This museum is the top choice museum in the City of Ho Chi Minh. This museum is formerly the Museum of Chinese and American War and is consistently popular with many tourists. It houses the remnants of the conflict that powerfully convey the brutal effects of war on the civilian. Many of the atrocities are documented here and will leave an eerie feeling because of some disturbing evidence and casualties of the war that happened before.
HANG SON DOONG
Hang Son Doong or the Mountain River Cave is known as the world’s largest cave and is one of the most spectacular attractions in Southeast Asia. This site is an extremely remote area and is definitely a no day-trip destination. The only way to visit is by booking a seven-day expedition.
GIAC LAC PAGODA
Giac Lam is believed to be the oldest temple in Ho Chi Minh City. This pagoda is set in a peaceful garden- like grounds that are perfect for praying and meditation. The attractions in the temple are that there is a looming Bodhi tree, a native fig tree that is sacred to Buddhists, in the front garden that was gifted by a Sri Lankan Monk in 1853. The Chinese character in the temple’s name means “Feel the Woods Temple”.
PHONG NHA- BANG NATIONAL PARK
Phong Nha- Bang National Park is the National Park in the North Central of Vietnam that was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2003. The park contains the oldest karst mountains in Asia that are believed to have formed 400 million years ago. It is riddled with hundreds of cave systems and spectacular underground rivers. This site is also an attraction for forest trekking and rural biking.
